The House of Hāshim

This house lies in the al-Qaryūn quarter in the highest southern part of the Habs ad-Dam area.

Probably the most distinguished aspect of the house is the orchard to the north and west. It is supplied with a water fountain surrounded by a ground that is paved with Sultāni slabs of stone. Beside the entrance area there are two open Iwāns. The reception “dīwān” of Sheikh Munīb Hāshim there had been used as a special house for discussing complex theological questions. Sheikh Munīb of the family had been appointed as the general mufti in the Ottoman empire.
