
It is the capital of north Palestine, lying at latitude 32, 13, some 65 km. (40 miles) north of Jerusalem. The area of the city stretches along the wadi which rises between 280 - 500 m. above sea level, surrounded by Eibal mountain on the northern side, which rises about 940 m. above sea level, and Jarzeem mountain, whose summit rises about 840 m. above sea level.
Palestine’s climate is classified as moderate due to its location within the Mediterranean region, hot & dry in the summer that extends for more than five months: (April- August), when temperatures average about 29 º C, rising to a maximum of 40 º C sometimes, especially in July & August.
Winter in Nablus is cold & rainy; yet, it is short, no more than three months: (December- February). January is the coldest when the temperature drops to about 6 º C. The average rain fall is about 660 Mm, of which 80% falls between January and the beginning of March; whereas the average wind speed is about 10 km/ h, and the average humidity is about 61%.
